I know Flash allows local storage of data and wasn't sure if
it would allow this. I want to be able to present templates like
ScrapBlog and have users select images from their local hard disk
and have them appear in an album like ScrapBlog. I want to be able
to do this without uploading the images first as ScrapBlog does,
the images must remain local. Does anyone know of a way to do this
This isn't possible to do with Flex because the Flash Player
severely restricts access to the local computer services. It is a
security issue since Flash SWFs can be on a page you browse to and
we don't want anything malicious to happen.
That said, you can use AIR - essentially Flex for the
desktop. See labs.adobe.com and download the AIR player and also
download Flex 3 Beta 2. You make AIR apps exactly as you make Flex
apps, except you have the ability to read and write local files.
