    Extension manager not selectable

    DreaMaTrix

      Hello

My extensions menu is greyed out in photoshop. I have unistalled extension manager, updated it too. I have uninstalled exchange and reinstalled that too.

I have unistalled photoshop, and all components, then reinstalled

I have checked the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions and there are folders in there.

I am running windows 7 and this happened after the last photoshop update

      Any ideas?

      Many thanks

      Paul

          Hi Paul,

This is Zhihong from Adobe CEP team. Thanks for reporting this, could you please help to offer following information:

          1. Is there a nested extension folder under “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions”? The correct structure should be “..\CEPServiceManager4\extensions\extensionA” rather than “..\CEPServiceManager4\extensions\nestedFolderName\extensionA”.

          2. Can you get the CEP log and listed in this thread? The steps are as following:

First, set the “LogLevel” value of registry key “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.4” from “1” to “6”. Second, restart Photoshop and do the operations you mentioned. The CEP log will be in folder “C:\Users\’username’\AppData\Local\Temp” with name csxs4-PHXS.log.

          3. In addition, could you please check following components version on your machine?

Version of CEPHtmlEngine.exe (it locates at path “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\html”).

Version of PlugPlugOwl.dll (in the Photoshop installation folder like “C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC”).

          Thanks!

              Hi Paul,

The extensions folder structure is correct. Both of the
CEPHtmlEngine and PlugPlugOwl version is correct, too. But about step2, the log
you attached is still with LogLevel 1. Could you please check the value of “LogLevel”
in registry key “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.4” again? If it was set
to 6, the log will looks as following:

              “2014-01-27 20:41:36 : INFO
              PlugPlug version : 4.2.0.36

              LogLevel : 6

                Hi Zhihong

That was it, it was set to 6. I even deleted it to see if a new one would be generated.

Thanks for your confirmation. Is it possible that the “LogLevel” value you modified is in “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.3” instead of “..\CSXS.4”? If the “LogLevel” in “..\CSXS.4” was modified, the log file name would be “csxs4-PHXS.log”; and the “PlugPlug version: 4.0.1.34” in log file should as same as the PlugPlugOwl.dll version in your PS (which is 4.2.0.36). On the other hand, the “LogLevel : 1” in log file should be “LogLevel : 6”. Could you please check this? Thanks!

No, thats it. Exactly the instructions you provided, tried it several times. Moved the log to see if it would generate a new one.

can you give me instructions on how to uninstall all my cc products and clean all folders/registries etc. I am wasting too much time with all this.

                    Many thanks for your help

Please try the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html . And let me know whether it can fix your problem or not, thanks!

                        Ok it's working again now.

                        I uninstalled eveything including preferences.

I deleted all the registry entries for adobe

I reinstalled everything, back to normal.

The Adobe CC cleaner tool is about as much use as a chocolate kettle
