Can't import video into After Effects

    breaker1crazy

Hey guy's, Im trying to import a MPEG video from my camcorder into after effects, but AE says that the video is "corrupted or unsupported" and won't load it. I've tried taking it and exporting it from Premiere Pro and i've also tried just importing it as raw footage and it won't load it either way. I'll post some pictures below. Do you guys know whats wrong/ how to fix it?

The top one is codec information and the bottom picture is what my screen looks like when i try to import it.

Does it play back in Premiere with no problems? If so, a workaround would be using the Adobe Media Encoder to transcode it to a proper production codec (which actually isn't a bad workflow regardless).

What version of AE are you running? And I mean the specific version number such as 12.2.0, 11.0.4, etc.

Also, what camera is this coming from and how did you get the data from the camera into the computer? I'm guessing it's fairly old considering that it's not HD footage.

It plays in premiere fine, I'll try the media encoder. Im using version 11.0 the camera is a sony handycam, probably 5 or so years old. I use a usb cord that goes from the camcorder to my laptop.

What media does the camera record onto? Are you copying files over USB or are you capturing via Firewire?

And your AE version is 11.0.what? That third number is important. You should be using version 11.0.4. If not, you're missing some serious bug fixes and should probably update it.

sorry i've been away for a while, haven't had  a chance to look at the adobe media encoder and probably won't get to it till this weekend. I'm using version 11.0.0.378, I just downloaded this trial like 3 weeks ago, why do i have such an old version?

Update and see if it helps.
