Small daily newspaper just converted from QuarkXPress 7.5 to InDesign CS6 (not Creative Cloud version). We're storing our daily ID pages on an Apple Xserve running OS 10.6.
Today (Jan. 29), about 15 pages suddenly disappeared from the server. They were there one second and a few seconds later they were gone. I figured perhaps someone had accidentally moved them but that hasn't yet proven to be the case. Only about 4-5 people would have been working on these pages.
Most of these missing pages had already been output to the press, but our really pissed off news staff had to rebuild six pages.
As far as I know no other files were bothered. Just the InDesign pages.
Anyone ever heard of this happening?
Seems to me that if they were on the server then you either have a server issue or someone with access to the files moved or deleted them. This doesn't seem like an Indesign problem. I suppose I could be wrong, but....
Reboot the server?
