    Project Settings Based on File

    wcndave

I have tried pretty much every setting in turn, and it's getting really boring...

I have a clip from my Mobile that I would like to edit.

I just want to base the project settings on that one file, however I can't find any way to do so.

Am I just being thick? I'd think this is one of the most important elements of creating a new project...

The first thing you need to do is determine the properties of your video

Codec & Format information, read both links in reply #1 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1270588

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

But that's my point.  Rather than having to delve in to each file, when I get a bunch of clips, they are nearly always from a singel source, and I just want to open the clip and have PE11 create the settings from the first file.

Otherwise I have to look through all the settings each and every time.  I know the settings of this file but cannot find anything that matches, so I have to live with black bars all around.

I opened AVS, dragged the file in, it said "do you want to base all project settings on this file", I clicked yes, and I was up an running creating a montage of some clips.

I spent half an hour on PE11 and got nowhere :-(

              >Frame rate mode                          : Variable

You will not be able to "successfully" edit this video in Premiere Elements (or Premiere Pro) because no version of Premiere is designed to work with variable frame rate video

See the discussion of iPhone video at the next link

Some people find that Iphone won't edit easily because it uses a variable frame rate

This was taken on android, but I guess the point is the same.

It's a bit frustrating that a "premiere" product struggles where knock off type products that have lots of other flaws manage without problem.

I'm using this to put together montages from phone cameras, compact cameras, dslr's, jvc camcorder and a couple of other rarer sources.

I keep having to go back to avs, but it had some things that were so annoying UI wise that I got PE11, which I really can't use. Shame :-(
