    jpegs in external text files

    slantill
      I'm having trouble getting the <img src="untitled.jpg"> code to work in my external txt. file to work.
      I got other code to work but not the image code.
      is it possible in flash mx? or is there another and better way to bring external jpegs in so they can be updated easly without having to actually place them flash every time.
      If anyone can help thanks.

          you can use loadMovie() to "...bring external jpegs..." into flash. but you should be able to use your approach, too.

          what code are you using to assign htmlText to your textfield?

            loadVarsText = new loadVars();
            loadVarsText.load("news.txt");
            //assign a function which fires when the data is loaded:
            loadVarsText.onLoad = function(success) {
            if (success) {
            trace("done loading");
            //Now that we know the data is loaded,
            //set the text content of the Text Field
            //with the instance name "scroller" equal to the
            //contents of the variable
            scroller.htmltext = this.news;
            } else {
            trace("not loaded");
            }
            };

            so i can also use loadmovie and load a external jpeg?
            that might be easier.
            I'll have to try some more things
            thanks

              actionscript is case-sensitive (usually). that should be htmlText, not htmltext.
