OK, it finally happened.........I ran out of space inside my tower.
I also just happen to have 3 brand new Seagate constellations (internal) that don't have a home.
I am "hoping" to somehow connect these drives to my pc.
I think I still have 2 internal sata that are empty.
I also have esata in the back of the pc.
I don't know my best option to hook these up.
I was thinking perhaphs I could build my own external G Tech d Raid Drive if I knew how.
Thanks a bunch,
I was planning to use them as an extra media drive for editing.
I would stick the hard disks in an external enclosure, that incorporates a SATA bridge, so that Your one eSATA port would be expanded to 3, 4, or 5 SATA ports for hard disks.
Here are a number of such enclosures: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007729&IsNodeId=1&Descripti on=port%20multiplier%20esata&name=RAID%20Enclosure%20%2f%20Subsystems&Order=PRICE&Pagesize =20&isdeptsrh=1
I think there is some issue with some BIOSes not wanting to support SATA port multipliers, so test it before You trust it.
You can decide if You want JBOD, or some kind of RAID setup. I would reccomend JBOD for simplicity and ease of data recovery.
Warning: This is theory, I have not tried this recently.
