1. Re: Monitor difference between Source and Programme
JSS1138 Feb 2, 2014 10:03 AM (in response to Ferret Head)For starters, you should ignore the built-in monitors on something like this. They're not designed to show you an accurate signal, their purpose is only to show content.
You need to get the signal off the computer and onto a properly calibrated TV in order to judge the quality of the image. That's the only way to ensure you're seeing the signal accurately, which is always the first step in any kind of quality control. Otherwise you could end up compensating for errors in the display, rather than errors in the video.

Ferret Head Feb 2, 2014 10:09 AM (in response to JSS1138)Hi Simon
I'm aware of the calibration issue on an output monitor, but was a little confused about why monitors on the same application should offer up two different readings on the same computer monitor screen.
But thanks very much for your input anyway. Replies are always appreciated.
Kind Regards
Karl.

3. Re: Monitor difference between Source and Programme
JSS1138 Feb 2, 2014 10:15 AM (in response to Ferret Head)I don't know. But...assuming there are no effects applied in the sequence to cause such a difference, I guess my point is that it doesn't really matter.
Watch it on the calibrated display, that's what matters.
(By the way, the two posted images look pretty identical here.)

4. Re: Monitor difference between Source and Programme
Steven L. Gotz Feb 2, 2014 10:16 AM (in response to Ferret Head)OK, so I saved both images and opened them both up in Photoshop. I could not see a difference with my naked eye, so I sampled the lowest right hand corner of the image and got RGB 133.144.145 on both of them. I repeated that on different spots of the image and saw similar results. No difference.
Perhaps the graphics card you are using is using different settings for how it shows each monitor? That would be odd, I suppose, but I don't know how Premiere Pro interacts with the graphics card.
Are you sure that your playback and pause resolution are both 100% (although why resolution would matter is something I don't know)?

Ferret Head Feb 2, 2014 10:21 AM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)Thanks for taking the trouble Steven. Thats reassuring. The playback and the resolution are both 100%. But be an anomolie in my
computer.
I'll relax about it. Thanks for your help though.
Take care.

Ferret Head Feb 2, 2014 10:22 AM (in response to JSS1138)Thanks Jim
Your point is a good one. Silly of me to get neurotic about this without a calibrated monitor.
Thanks again.

It happens a lot.
