    Toolbar has gone missing

    Level 7
      Hey all,

I know this might sound wack, but in my FW MX 2004, the toolbar that holds
the New Document, Open, Copy, Cut, Paste, etc, buttons, simply disappeared
the other day. I can't find it anywhere. Under Window > Toolbars there's
just Main and Modify, and they're both checked. Can anyone help?

      Thanks in advance,

Patty, have you anything set up under Window > Workspace Layouts > My
Workspace this brings back everything for me in FWs 8, I no longer have MX
          on my system.

You haven't been schlepping it around to a second monitor that is now off?

Hi Peter - Thank you, but I don't seem to have that menu option in FW MX
              2004, unfortunately.

One more thing to try P@tty,

Click the Main toolbar off and then back on again.

Hmmm, The only way I can get rid of that tool bar is to uncheck the Main in
the Toolbars, I'm guessing you've tried clicking this of and on a couple of
times? Other than that I'm stumped.

My guess is that either your configuration file or preferences file may
have become corrupt. Close the program down and delete the two files.
They will rebuild upon reloading. I haven't use MX for a while, so I'm
not sure of where to find them. You could start looking in these locations

                      C:/Program Files/Macromedia/Fireworks MX/Fireworks.ini
                      C:/Program Files/Macromedia/Fireworks MX/Fireworks MX Preferences.txt

I did try this, and carefully watched the screen - and saw that the Main
toolbar had gotten detached and was hiding just below the bottom of the
Fireworks window. I never would have thought to look for it there! Anyway,
problem solved. Thanks for your help, Peter!

Linda, thank you. Apparently it was just a case of wandering toolbar. (I
                            really had looked!)

Great. Pleased you found it again. One thing I would recommend and that is
the Workspace layouts that I mentioned before. I'm sure FWs MX had that
facility as well. You have a choice to 'Save Current' which I find is worth
doing even if it's just to restore when something goes awry. You can always
                              overwrite at a later date.

                              Peter
