If you're viewing a PDF in Acrobat or Reader, thumbnails are generated automatically. You can view them in the Pages panel within the Navigation pane on the left side of the screen.
Thanks Steve, but I would like every PDF to display the thumbnails and be at 100% instead of the larger screen size.
You have to do that with Acrobat Pro in File > Properties > Initial View.
InDesign has never had the capability to set initial view for print PDFs.
If you export as Interactive PDF, you can set the initial view but you can't turn on thumbnails.
Thanks again Steve.
Yes, I didn't think there was a way of doing it.
I have to Command D or run an Action on every PDF I make, so that they are consistent for the client.
Seems an unnecessary step. It would be a lot easier if I could edit a joboptions file.
Never mind, as the saying goes: "That's just the way it is".
Thanks and cheers, ian
