Mac mini or built a PC to work with premiere?

    le_corbusier Level 1

      Hi,

I would be grateful if someone give me advide about buy a compouter to edit with premiere.

I record with a camera Canon Canon LEGRIA HF M52 recording in mode  FXP: 1920 x 1080, 17 Mbp

I asked some stores in Spain. The next two options cost about 1000 euros, both,

      OPTION A: a Mac mini,

      2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7

      4GB memory

      1TB hard drive1

      Intel HD Graphics 4000

      OS X Mavericks

      + keyboard

      + mouse

      + 8 GB RAM

      = 1000 euros

I wonder it the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is enough ( I use a TV monitor 40 inchs...)

      OPTION B:  a pc with,

      3GO F.A, 700W SATA 12CM ATX PFC PASIVO CONT.

LG GH24NS95 24X NEGRA OEM SATA

      ASUS R9270X DC2 2GD5

      KINGSTON DDR3 16GB. PC1600 HYPERX GÉNESIS CL

      SEAGATE. 1TB 3.5 SATA 3 64MB 7200RPM BARRACU

      LOGITECH WIRELESS DESKTOP MK330 SAMSUNG

SSD SERIE 840 EVO 120GB 25 BASIC COOLER CPU

      DEEPCOOL ALTA 7 SOCKET 775 1155 1 GIGABYTE

      mother board Z87 HD3 ATX LGA1150 INTEL CORE 17

      4770 3 40GHZ 1150 BOX AEROCOOL GT ADVANCE WHITE USB3.0 BLUE LEO

      = 1000 euros

I presume some components are not necesary for work with premiere.

      Thanks for any advice,

You definitely will get more for money with a PC.  But is very evident that the PC vendor does not know Premiere.  Please study Harm's work on our PPBM7.com web site.  There is alot of information that you should dig through.

The graphics board is totally wrong, you want an nVidia GPU to get the hardware acceleration for the Mercury Playback Engine (MPE)

A single disk drive is totally inadequate. (Sorry, first look I did not see the SSD)

          There are better CPU coolers

If afforable get an i7-4770K to eventually take advantage of the free extra perormance by a simple easy overclock

Also I returned my Samsung 840 EVO SSD's because in real world Premiere testing the write performance is lousy.  The much better is the Samsung 840 Pro SSD.

            @DanielBasulto

Actually I just put together a PC this past weak and my setup runs APP CS6 like a champ.

            ---Here is my Build---

            Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell

            NZXT Kraken X60

            G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series 128 SSD

            WD BLACK SERIES WD1003FZEX 1TB

            ASUS R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon

            ASUS Z87-DELUXE/QUAD

            NZXT Kraken X60

            NZXT HALE90 V2

            NZXT H630

I say go for it. Today is the first day i really spend time with it. As for the processor I do agree, get th i7-4770K. I overclocked mine and its at SUPER BEAST. I plan on adding the other 16 gigs of Ram with Income Tax. Maybe even anther Asus R9270x so I can use Crossfire.

One major change get rid of the AMD based GPU "ASUS R9270X DC2T 2GD5" and get an nVidia based board like an "ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5" or it could be any other vendor of graphics boards..  This is the only way to take advantage of the GPU acceleration of the Adobe Mercury Playback Engine (MPE) that Adobe has in the Premiere software.

Thanks you very much for the reply !

I will search the ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5

On the other hand, about this PC componets, I would like to know if

                  1) There is any incompatibility beetwen components?

                  2) Could I play videos from the Premiere timeline without drops?

                  3) Does work this compoter with a 42´´ TV monitos conected by HDMI?

                  Thanks !

                    1)no need to worry

2)just the 4770k and ssd will work

3)it will at least work at 1920x1080p 24fps if your TV is good better resolution and fps can be output.

                      Thanks CookingHusband

                      In answer 2),

                      - Do you mean that ONLY the procesor 1447 and the SSD will work and the other componets won´t? (The WD drive won´t work ? )

                      Or

-Do you mean that using a computer with procesor 1447 and a SSD drive is enough for play videos from the Premiere timeline without drops?

                      Thanks !

Sorry about my bad English, is answer B

I mean provided you have a 4770K and a good fast SSD, you should have no problem with other components if you are going to edit only 1080p HD film in PP. Also even just the WD drive(7200rpm) on SATA3 will most likely be OK, if you are not stacking too many clips on top of each other.

Certainly a good geforce card + large amount(>2gb) of GDDR5 ram will help more, especially if you need to use lost of effect and After effect. Just fit your budget.

Actually I am thinking about either upgrading my spare PC from Z68-sandybridge to Asus Z87 Delux or Extreme VI Haswell, but that is mainly because my aim is working on 4K file. And my custom build New Mac Pro still on a long waiting Queue ( delivery late April or later ).

                          ABOUR RAM

I would be gretefull if someone give me advice about the RAM for the PC mentioned above  (ASUS Z87 DELUXE 1150 ATX ) to edit with Adobe Premiere record with a camera Canon EGRIA HF M52 recording in mode FXP: 1920 x 1080, 17 Mbp

At this moment is impossible for my vendor to sell me the KINGSTON DDR3 16GB. PC2400 HYPERX CL11 XMP K.(Maybe I must wait several months for this RAM)

So, my vendor propose me to istall KINGSTON DDR3 16GB 1866 hyperx CL10 XMP K2

                          My question is,

There is significative differences beetween both RAM? speed, etc?

                          Thanks !
