Anybody have a trick for doing this as painlessly as possible?
Sure, draw it from scratch. Seriously, you are wasting your time trying to cut this out (unless you have too much of it of course) and obviously lack the patience to do it the hard way. So why even bother? It's just a bunch of rings and spokes that can be easily drawn with lines and circles and with a simple bevel layer style you can even get some of the reflection...
Hello, if still have the image with the contents outside the fan, you could try the magic wand with "Contiguous" unchecked.
The challenge for me in drawing it is where the back fan guard and the front guard intersect getting those to meet without affecting the blade is tough.
It may be my only option but I was hoping for some trick I didn't know about.
I tired it with contiguous unchecked but it grabs the fan guard as well. I guess the colors are too close
