Photoshop CS5 simply can't use Camera Raw 8.x. It's limited to the Camera Raw 6.x series only.
The long and short of it is this: You will not be able to directly open your raw images into Photoshop CS5 as as you can with older camera files. For that convenience you'll need to get a version of Photoshop that's as new as your new camera.
But it's not a "can't get there from here" situation - you can use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files into a format Photoshop CS5 CAN open.
Please don't post in duplicate or parallel threads. It just causes confusion.
As I said in your other thread:
…I don't see the "Panasonic gx7 camera" listed as supported by any version of ACR or DNG Converter.
ADDENDUM: However, I do see a Lumix DMC-GX7 supported by ACR 8.3 and the DNG Converter 8.3. That one was supported as of 8.2, but not in ACR 8.1 or DNG Converter 8.1. If that's your camera, download, install , launch and run the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 on each file batch you want to converter to DNG raw files that you can open in CS5.
See my reply in your other thread:
Dng converter worked for cs5. A utube video on how to use the dng converter was helpful.
