> Since subscribing to After Effects CC (12.0), projects are slow to save and load. This is particularly apparent when there are many comps or assets in the project. This is crippling since the project goes through a painfully slow save before a multiprocessing preview.
We need a lot more detail to help you. Let's start with where your footage is stored, what kind(s) of footage you're using, how large your project files are, whether this is happening on all operating systems, and some specific numbers on what it means for the projects to be "slow" to load.
> I know this was supposed to be resolved by either 12.1 update or 12.2
I'm not sure what you're referring to here. Please point me to the specific communcation(s) that you're referring to so that I know which specific bug fixes you're talking about.
Thanks for the reply, Todd. Here's the information I should have included.
All of the footage is stored on a NAS. I'm connected through 1GbE CAT-6 to a 1Gb switch to the 10Gb card. The last two projects I've experience this on are 1.9MB (barely any external assets) and around 15MB (a few heavily-layered Illustrator files). The load/save time I'm talking about is upwards of 20-30 seconds. Additionally, it doesn't affect the save/load time either way if I close all other apps or not.
As a test, what happens if you use the exact same footage in the project, but store it and the project file locally on the machine, and not on the network?
You mention a project with "barely any external assets". Does this happen with no external assets at all? Try a test with a project with lots of text layers, shape layers, and/or solid-color layers---i.e., plenty of layers but no footage of any kind. Same problem?
Thanks for the reply, Dave. The problem persists
I just built a project with lots of text layers, a few solids, nested precomps, some expressions, and 3D animation.
When significantly increasing the number of comps in the Project, it becomes noticible quickly. The test project is not at the completely crippled phase yet, so maybe it also has something to do with asset management too.
Is there somewhere I can email you copies of my two different-sized projects?
Bobby, were you able to resolve this?
I wouldn't say that I resolved it, but the most recent updates seem to have addressed it.
Or maybe it was upgrading to SSDs, 64GB RAM, and a new NAS that did it, I dunno.
