    Alternative to Opacity Question

    perfectblue Community Member

In the animation I am working on, I need an object to instantly go from 100% opacity to 0% opacity. The problem is, even if you use the opacity of the layer as a keyframe, the object will not instanlty vanish, even if it is only on for the timeruler for a quick amount of time.

I need a tool that will drop from 100% opacity to 0% instantly.

      Thanks

Use Hold keyframes for the Opacity property.

            Or trim the layer.

Opacity will go from 100% to 0% in the smallest increment of your project's timebase. If you're editing in 30fps, it takes 1/30 second to do the job. If you are trimming the layer, at frame 00:01:00 the layer will be visible and at the next frame, 00:01:01, it will be gone. But that still took 1/30 second to occur. If youare editing in a 60fps timebase, the smallest increment between images is 1/60 second. Your audience's visual acuity and retention of vision may not register a change that happens that quickly.
