problems with audio

Hi all,

I just added audio to a project and there are different problems.

1) Sound plays in FireFox, Chrome (Mac, Linux, Windows), but doesn't in Safari.

2) The mute button works on Mac, but doesn't under Linux, nor Windows.

3) My clients can't load the site (very embarassing ). What's very strange, is that nothing displays, not even the preloader spinning.

They live in the mountain, with a "small" high-speed connection and run on an old Powerbook Mac. As it was ok for them before I added audio, I imagine that the problem comes from a too heavy audio file to load for their configuration.

Hey Gil!
Does the sound work on local on Safari? I tested several of my work on Safari and all sounds work fine. They also work on our sever.

Hi Marie,

I am running Safari 5.1.10. Neither the local version, nor the served version of the site plays the sound !

I have version 5.1.7 for windows. No problem with sounds on this version.
It must be a Mac thing then.

Please, Marie. Could you confirm you hear the trickling sound on your configuration ?

Thanks, Marie. Multiplying the number of OS x the number of browsers x the number of versions = too much configurations to test

I feel the pain!

Je ne crois pas que cela sera résolu pendant notre vie et même après car nous aurons toujours le problème des mises à jour des navigateurs et un nouveau introduit toujours un nouveau problème ou case quelque chose qui marchait avant !
