I have this same issue on a PC but I don't even get to see the errors. Just updated it yesterday and haven't been able to use it since. Anyone out there know what to do yet?

Did you upgrade from a previous version of Animate? Can you try resetting your preferences to see if that will work? If not, you can try out the localhost workaround here:

In my instance I have no edge prefs to label old or remove as I removed them using the uninstaller before I re-install Edge. Every time I do this I get the crash on launch. I can't find any old edge prefs anywhere. What else can I do? I've also tried using the clean up tool and uninstalling and re installing CC installer.
Afeter effects woun't update either.
Yes I did originally update from Edge 2.0 BTW.
I did have the same problem on Windows 8.1 OS.
Animate crash everytime i lauch it.
Try the prefrence fix but it did not working.....

I've tried to follow the discussion you kindly directed me to but cannot see a solution there that eanables me to do anything - particualarly the prefs link, as I mentioned before (perhaps not clearly my apologies), I removed the prefs when I re-installed. As far as I know I do not have any Edge prefs whatsoever. I am not behind any kind of firewall. I connect the mac to the internet wirelessly both at home and at my ofice.
I foolishly clicked to update After effects this morning and now that doesn't open either. I wonder if there's a link maybe?
(Current operating system and thre month old date mac book pro etc)
I have edge 2 and After effects on my 3 year old old mac book pro - I'm doing theweb work on that but it's slower by a quite a bit

Devendar suggested creating a new user account (mac) this has fixed the problem. Fantastic.
Creating a new user account was the right answer. Once I have installed the apps (Edge ands After effects from the new user account I find that the apps work in my main account.
