I developed a Director file about 12 years ago in one of the
first versions of Director - I believe it was Director 2. I have
since then not worked in Director or owned another version. I want
to get back into it but also would like to open the old file (huge
nostalgic value). This file has also become an "exec" file on my
hard drive (latest OS X), probably because the old Director
application was out-of-date for many years anyway. I downloaded the
free Director MX2004 trial but I can't open my old file. It does
not read the "exec" file.
Is there any way that I can open the old file or is it lost
forever? Any help or advice would be so greatly appreciated.
I just realized that this question was asked before but it
seems that my files are even older. I will try the Director 8.5
method, but how can the "exec" file be explained? Is this a matter
of trying to view the file in OS X while the file was originally
developed in OS 9 (or even before that - I can't remember)?
I have answered a few posts on recovering content from old
Director files. I have
managed to help someone recover content from a Director 4
file. That was about the
earliest. Anyway, email me offlist and I'll see what I can do
to help you.
