    need Help with Linking Question

    Orr_4 Level 1
Not quite sure how to do this.
I have a gallery page of thumbnails that I want to reference a different layout page for the individual image.
What I want to happen is, when you click the thumbnail on the thumbnail gallery page, a new layout page opens in the same browser window with that thumbnails larger image. I know how to link the new .html page , or the larger image, But I don't know how to link them both so they both open?
I have many images and pages of thumbnails that I have to do this with.

      Thanks for any help

You want the new page to replace the current page in the browser viewport?

I guess I don't understand what "both" is?

Let me try to explain it better.
I have a "gallery page" with 20 thumbs on it.
I have another page designed " frame page " to replace the ' gallery page / thumb page" in order to display the enlarged view of the thumbnail selected, only 1 image will show on this page.

Now, what I don't know how to do is to have this happen.
When you click on 1 of the thumbnails on the gallery thumbnail page, the page is replaced with the " frame page "
AND the larger image of the thumb that was clicked on is loaded with the frame page.

Does that make it any clearer?

I understand how to link to the frame page, What I don't know how to do is link the appropriate image with the frame page.

Link from the thumb to the page containing the larger image and make the
target of the link be the name of the frame containing the thumb page.

I'm not sure i'm clear or understand.
The page for the enlarged image, "frame page" has an empty container for the larger image to fit into.
When I select the thumb on the "gallery page" in the properties window below I have the
                "Src" to the thumb .jpg
                "Link" to the Framepage .html

What should the target be set to? _blank _parent _self or _top
The Low Src should then be linked to the Image.jpg?

I have tried several settings but the large image does not load?

                thks for helping

You're wanting to use a single page as the only recipient of all of the
enlarged images, as opposed to having a separate page for each enlarged
image? You'd have to either use custom javascript or server-side code to
                  accomplish that.

Yes as I have a hundred or so images. Having a devoted page for each image would be the wrong way to do this with so many images, don't you think?
                    Is there a better way?

I'm a novice at this, would this be difficult ?
If not can you explain how to do it??

                    thanks

Is it absolutely necessary to have the full size images appear in
another page - could the page perhaps be worked so that the full size
images are contained within - if so then check out these....

there are commercial alternative at both the above sites too and theres
this extension too which may do the trick for you better than the two
above - this more or less does exactly what you want..

Actually the pages are the exact same except for the thumbnail area section which is being replaced on the new page with the image.

I don't have any problem with just exchanging the thumb area with the image in the same page if that makes things easyer.
I will try and get something up soon to make it easyer to refer to.

Investigate the free ShowPic extension from PVII as a way of doing that -

                            Thanks guys

this http://www.valleywebdesigns.com/vwd_jspw3.asp looks to be the best solution for my needs I think. Just having the picture load over the thumbs with control over the looks of the window seems like a good way to go.
