Are you using Premeire Pro CC? If so, you do have options.

I'm going to file a feature request, but I seem to remeber having a playback button in Bin windows way back in Premiere 6.0 for Mac, say maybe 2000/2001?
Now, you can either use JKL scrubbing, or just drag your mouse over the clips to see its contents. That's called "hover scrub."
I was just thinking today that it would great to be able to full screen a bin in icon view, reorder clips in storyboard fashion, than just click play to check the story flow without adding to a timeline.
Yes, you've been able to do that for many versions of Premiere Pro. It's very elegant in Premiere Pro CC. Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks,

Dan Wolfe Feb 19, 2014 10:09 AM (in response to Kevin-Monahan)I'm aware of hoverscrub and individual clip playback from the bin window, but what I mean is playback of clips in succession so I can watch an actual rough edit straight from the bin. I find reordering lots of clips much easier to do within a bin in icon view rather than in a sequence.
and yes, I'm using the latest version of CC

Grab them all and place in the sequence. You can always Undo and go back to rearranging.

Dan Wolfe Feb 19, 2014 1:21 PM (in response to JSS1138)true, but I'd rather just play from the bin without creating uneccesary sequences until needed. actually, looking back at that Premiere 6.0 Mac manual, I'm now remebering that you were able to save storyboard files separately from the project. seems like some type of similar workflow would be really helpful today. something like prelude rough cuts but just a simple storyboard window that you could open, play & shuttle in and have different versions of, maybe even match up to hand drawn storyboards and adobe story scripts. I just find rearranging tiles in a storyboard much easier for story flow than rearranging thumbnail slivers in a timeline... too much zooming in & out.

That might be a good future work flow, Mine works now.
You can also delete sequences if you want.
