I have tried to find some specific information online about trapcode lux but its as rare as hens teeth unforunately. Red giant dont have any community forums and Im having difficulty getting an answer from them so I was wondering if anyone here might be able to answer my question. Im using trapcode lux for a spotlight on a wall and floor. I have noticed that the 'set reach layer' function seems to only be able to reach one layer at a time so if I set it the wall then it goes through the floor and visa versa. Ive also noticed when I rotate the camera I can see the light through the wall which looks stupid. I have tried all the different settings including the material options on my 3D layers but it makes no difference. Is this a limitation of this particular plug in? Cheers
Nothing stops you from using a Null as the reach layer and animate it around. The rest is simply aß limitation. Just like it doesn't do shadows, it doesn't do obscuration and you have to use manual matte techniques.
If simply putting your Lux layer below the Floor and Wall layers does not solve your problem there are two other options. The first is to modify the design so you don't see past the wall or past the floor. The second is the creative use of mattes.
