Installing Captivate 6 without previous version installed

I am having a publishing problem with Adobe Captivate 6 in Windows 7 and was wondering if it has anything to do with the installation. I have read and been told it is possible to install Adobe Captivate 6 without have a previous version installed. Since my last full version was 3, I thought it would be less of a pain to install with just the serial number of a previous version. Everything seemed to work fine until I started publishing. Then my SCORM 1.2 files all started being published without the first letter in the file names. I have not experienced this problem before I had to reinstall Captivate, and my work associate can publish my module on her computer without any problem. Has anyone else installed Captivate without a previous version installed and run into problems?

You installed Captivate 6 and used the serial number from Captivate 3, and you're having SOME issues??

I'm amazed it worked at all. It should have gone belly up immediately.

Let me rephrase that. My current version is Captivate 6 (upgrade). The serial number I used when asked for the previous version was from my version 5 (upgrade). I did not go back as far as my full version 3. That was the whole point. I did not want to have to install version 3, then version 5 (upgrade), then version 6 (upgrade).

Is the only way to properly install Captivate 6 (upgrade) to start with Captivate 3 and then install each successive upgrade to version 6?
