I feel your pain, but I don't know the solution, sorry. Our Mac guru who primarily serves designers is not upgrading any of his clients to Mavericks so far, due to printing (and other) issues. Se we're still on 10.8.4 here.
If those don't help, you might want to post your issue in the Apple Support Communities: https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa
Good luck. :+)
Thanks DrStrik9 for your thoughts and support.
I have an update. I tried to print from Lightroom 5 (5.3) and that works :-). This gives me a workaround, although rather time consuming: I have to make extra process steps and use other programs. But for now it works; I'm approaching a deadline for an exhibition with still a lot of printing to do.
At a later stage I might try to print from my MacBook Pro which still runs Mountain Lion.
Here is another update.
The problem is not related to roll paper, it is about custom paper sizes. As long as I use standard sizes from the printdialogue window (A2, A3, or 24x30", etc) printing is fine. But if I use a custom size I get the errormessage.
I think this points towards Mavericks... Or the interaction between Mavericks, Photoshop and the Epson driver. I will report this to Apple Support Community
