    Capture Issue

    saldurk58

Sometimes when I'm capturing footage from my camcorder, the capture is jumpy, seems to drag and a green bar flickers on and off in the middle of the transfer.  It doesn't look that way on my camcorder monitor while it's capturing so I know it's not the camera or the tape. Any ideas?

•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 9 with the 9.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
          And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Have you viewed the tutorial links at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830 page?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?

Are you doing DV data or HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements Capture Window?

What is the Premiere Elements project preset set to before you start the capture?

Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" type problem?

Please review the following Adobe document on Premiere Elements Capture to determine if you are following all the prescribed steps.

Hi John...thanks for your response...my responses to your questions are

              below in red.  Thanks, Sally

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ

              http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180

*What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g.,

Premiere Elements 9 with the 9.0.1 update). I'm using Elements 12

*What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers,

like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".  Windows 7 64-bit

*Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should.

They fix a lot of problems.) Have not installed either.

*What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files,

include the model of camera. I'm attempting to capture footage from a JVC

              HD GY200

*If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error

message(s)? No message, simply have dragging and green line in clip once

captured and when played back.  It appears perfectly normal on my camera

              screen.

*What were you doing when the problem occurred? Attempting to capture a

              segment of footage

*What other software are you running? Not running any other software during

              capture.

*Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much

free space is on your system (C:) drive? 246GB free space and I checked all

the requirements before downloading the software.

*Has this ever worked before? It has worked and recently.  I didn't make

any changes on camera settings nor did I make any changes to PE.  If so, do

you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding

Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as

updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any

programs? No, No, No, and No etc.

              And some other questions...

*What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE

you do any work? I've been shooting a series of :30 spots for local

businesses to run on cable stations.  When you say "red line", are you

referring to the red outline that surrounds the screen during capture?

*Have you viewed the tutorial links at

              http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830 page?

*Which version of Quicktime do you have installed? 7.7.3 But when I went to

look up the version, I saw that it was in "read only" mode.  I de-selected

it and apply the new attribute.  I'm going to try again to see if I can

make it work now.  Will let you know if I'm successful or not.  Thanks for

              your help.
