I created a form with fillable fields in Acrobat Pro X, encrypted it using password security to disable changes to the document, and then saved it as a Reader-Extended PDF (enabling Adobe Reader users to save form data). I now cannot unlock the document with my password to further edit the form. Instead of asking for my password, it just says "You cannot change security on this document because the document is signed or certified." I'm positive I encrpyted with a password, not a certificate. Please help.
Begin by opening the document in Acrobat and save a non-enabled copy by selecting: File > Save A Copy
Then open the copy, which doesn't happen automatically.
Two additional notes.
1. Reader enabling uses a certificate.
2. Reader enabling locks out many kinds of editing, as it warns when you set it. It is NOT ALWAYS REVERSIBLE. It is very important to keep a copy of the un-enabled file in case you need it later.
