That's not much to go on. What are you trying to do? What does your comp look like? What did you do to get to the point that this is not working? How much do you know about AE and C4D? At this point this is one of the few questions that can be asked that doesn't require system info but Version of AE and C4D would help.
AE CC with C4D R15. To simpify things I just have a cube in the scene with a sky object for illumination. GI works fine R15 but it won't render in AE in (Final or Draft). Both AE and C4D files are "saved". Scene does show up in Software Preview. This is my first time really using Cineware with GI. Stuck to the tried and true way of rendering out of C4D for years and looking to transition. Is there a switch I'm missing?
It would help to see all your settings in C4D and Cineware. It's hard to say what is missing....
Oh, AE CC isn't much to go on either. What version? As of today you should be at 188.8.131.52
Here's what one of the 3D experts on the After Effects team said when I showed him this thread:
"I'm able to get GI rendering with Cineware, but I did run into one case where it didn't. For that case the failure happened with default CineRender, but still rendered fine by targeting R15 for the render path in options.
Things to try:
- 1. Ensure R15 is set for the Render Path
- 2. Try re-saving the .c4d project
If all fails, it would be great to have the .c4d project."
If you do want to send us the project that is causing you trouble, you can submit a bug report here and indicate in the report that you are willing to respond by email with an example file:
Worked! Had to fix the Render Path. Default had it pointing to /Applications/Adobe After Effects CC/Plug-Ins/MAXON CINEWARE AE/(CINEWARE Support)/bin/CineRender.app. Changed it to: /Applications/MAXON/CINEMA 4D R15/CINEMA 4D.app and it works now.
Good to know. Thanks for confirming.
I need your help on the GL thing, because i cant get it to work.
C4D version: R16
After Effects Version: CC
i tried changing the render path and the edit original path and i saved and i turned it to final rendering in after effects but its still doesnt work.
What, exact, version number of AE are you using? "CC" could mean anything from version 12.0.0 through 13.7.2, so it would be hard to help without knowing more.
