We used ACS and we decided to advised ADE to our customers
We converted pptx and docx in PDF format.
But we have a recurring problem with Adobe Digital Edition.
ADE crash with some pdf .
We have no problem with ADE 1.7 but always crash when it’s ADE 2.0 and 3.0
We have tried with different operation system, and the problem appeared with or without DRM.
Is there a difference between 1.7 and later ?
It's a very important problem ! We can't delivered ebooks to our customers with an ADE that crash so much time !
Can you find an issue ?
It appears that 2.0 was a fairly complete rewrite.
Unfortunately the team that wrote it were completely incompetent and created a huge number of bugs;
and judging by results there was no product testing at all.
Many bugs have been clearly discussed on this forum many times over the past two years,
but there is no evidence of any attempt to fix them: 2.0.1 and 3.0 seem to have all the same bugs as 2.0.
(see http://forums.adobe.com/message/6044239#6044239 for more details)
Adobe provides no support for ADE.
If you contact service they say it is a free product so they can't help and point you at this forum.
If you post a problem on this forum the chances of getting any useful response from Adobe are slim,
thought they do respond to a small proportion of messages.
In principle the fairly open Adobe ADEPT DRM infrastructure is a good idea;
but it is so flawed in implementation (both the infrastructure and supporting code, especially ADE)
that I am afraid your decision to recommend ADE to your customers was a poor one,
unless you specify ADE1.7.2.
