1. Re: Bridge - Batch Rename using Manual Sort Order
twenty_one Mar 6, 2014 2:14 PM (in response to Trevor Dennis)When you rearrange the images (by dragging thumbnails) Bridge will automatically switch to "sort manually". Then all you have to do is select them, and reach for Batch rename. Or doesn't it behave like that on your end?
It's a wonderful feature, especially since the naming flexibility is, as far as I can tell, infinite. I use it all the time.

3. Re: Bridge - Batch Rename using Manual Sort Order
Trevor Dennis Mar 6, 2014 2:22 PM (in response to twenty_one)Dag that's exactly what I was doing, but it doesn't use the same order they appear in Bridge after manually sorting.
I have just added to the thread I started in Bridge after finding an interesting fact (I am Googling like mad looking for a solution). I try very hard to sync my cameras (1DsMK3 and 1DMK4) but have always been frustrated that Bridge does not seem to get shots in the right order. It appears that Bridge only uses Date taken to the nearest minute, and while I am NOT a spray and pray photographer, I will obviously sometimes take several shots per minute. I use a Black Rapid dual harness, and can swap camea very quickly.
So I am wondering if there is a script that will give me a more accurate sort order in Bridge?

Trevor Dennis Mar 6, 2014 2:27 PM (in response to Trevor Dennis)Found an interesting forum thread but it does not help me. I'm more or less out of time, so will have to go with the less than perfect sort order. It is not life and death.

Huh. That's weird. I do this fifteen times a day. The auto switch to manual sorting never fails me, and that's the order that emerges.
Maybe there's a setting that I just happen to have "on" and you just happen to have "off".

7. Re: Bridge - Batch Rename using Manual Sort Order
Trevor Dennis Mar 6, 2014 5:49 PM (in response to twenty_one)It might be specific to my system. You may remember I had an unresolved issue where I am unable to move Bridge cache to another drive. I removed and reinstalled without fixing that issue, so I suspect it is OS related. I dread having to do a clean reinstall of the OS etc. with a vengence, so will put up with that tiny inconvenience.
Anyway, the job has been delivered as it was, and I don't suppose anyone will even notice the slight time sync issue. It's been one of those days. I lost my cursor in Photoshop image windows, which predictably came down to Lazy Nezumi. I uninstalled it to finish my job, and sent them a report, and my goodness Guillaume was quick as a flash with a reply telling me what was probably going on. That is one of my favourite add-ons for Photoshop and other apps where you use a tablet.
Thanks for your help, Dag and Ramón.
