You will need the project file and all the media used. You won't need the created items mentioned. PP will recreate them as necessary.
If you're using any tapless media, be sure to copy over the entire top level folder and everything inside, not just the actual video clips.
Once you open the project on the new machine, PP will ask you where the media is. Tell it, and you're good to go.
Thats great, thanks Jim.I guess I can just go in and change preferences and project settings once all is loaded into the new machine so that the generated files ect will go to the right drives? I don't what anything on my brand new Samsung pro. I only had a three drive setup on the old machine. This one has ssd for programs(250gb),wd black2x1tb for raid0,two wd black 500gb,for a total of 5 drives. Also I have a 128gb ssd but not sure what to through on it.
You can open a new project to set things as desired. Then when you open the current project, everything will go where you want it.
Yes,If I had of thought before typing... it makes sense. What should I use that extra ssd(128gb) for if I add it to the new system as well?
Here's what I'd do:
C: System (Samsung Pro)
D: Projects - 500GB
E: Cache/Scratch - 500GB
F: AE Global Cache - 128 GB
G: Media - 1TB
H: Exports - 1TB
Under this disk config, could I redirect all my documents,my music, my movies ect.from my C drive to the E: drive?
You could, but you shouldn't.
Leave those where Windows puts them. On an edit system, you won't have much in there anyway.
