1. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 1:30 AM (in response to ALLENT)Three things, try using mono tracks instead of adaptive. There is also a bug where anything panned not 100% left or right or centre does not work correctly and lastly are you sure that the crosstalk between tracks is not on the mono 5.1 master?

2. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 7:16 AM (in response to Richard M Knight)Thanks Richard for the response. If I use mono tracks, am I able to still get a panning knob? (I was thinking it just output the track straight down the middle (equal left and right). I think I tried that originally... but will look into that. I am hoping to fix this issue without having to redo the track, because it is a 104 min feature film and I have a ton of keyframed volume moves on it. If I have to delete that track and put in a mono track, is there a way I can copy my keyframe moves and paste them on the new mono track? I am also 100% sure that the bleed is not on MONO master (I checked it), good thought though.

3. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 10:20 AM (in response to ALLENT)I must admit I have never seen this problem and I don't see how it can happen, what you are seeing is like analogue multitrack crosstalk.
Something else you could try that would keep all your work is add a 5.1 submix track. Send your mono tracks to that and send the submix track to your stereo master. This will then give you surround panners which seem to be bug free compared to the stereo ones. Make sure the Audio mix down type is set correctly in Audio Preferences.

4. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 11:22 AM (in response to Richard M Knight)Yes, very purplexing. I tried to add a mono track earlier, and when I do there are NO PANNING knobs? Is it possible that Adobe did NOT give one the ability to PAN a mono track? What happens when the output is 5.1 (your mono tracks are sent to all 6 channels???) I'll have to test that one out later, but when your output is stereo it sends it to both tracks.. period... so I would imagine the same would hold true for a 5.1 output. It looks like Adobe needs to put someone on the PP development squad with a solid background in audio. Between this and the merge clips issue and the RED / waveform issue, it is starting to make me rethink things....

5. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 12:06 PM (in response to ALLENT)Your right there is no pan control for mono tracks, perhaps they were designed for multi channel work. On looking at your screen shot again you seem to be looking at the Audio clip mixer and not the Audio track mixer. Do you still have the same issue in the track mixer?

6. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 12:35 PM (in response to Richard M Knight)Yes, the AUDIO TRACK MIXER shows the same exact problem. I'm trying your sub-mix idea now.

7. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 12:51 PM (in response to ALLENT)OK, now I am BEYOND purplexed and into Straight up CONFUSION. I tried the 5.1 submix idea, and now I am getting track 2 (Center channel) bleeding into track 1 & 3 (the L & R of my 5.1) on the audio clip meter, and the audio track mixer windows (see images below). Then the next really confusing issue is why does the L / C / R channel (on my submix meter just show audio in tracks 1&2 on the 5.1 submix fader)??? I either have no idea how to work the audio section of PP, or I have uncovered an audio issue SO BROKEN I don't even know where to start on untangling it... (BTW I am a 20+ year Protools user)

8. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 12:55 PM (in response to ALLENT)On the centre track you need to turn up the centre feed, this is the top right knob next to the panner, this is in effect the divergence control, it determins if the centre feed goes to the centre output channel or to the left and right speakers.

9. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 12:58 PM (in response to Richard M Knight)What happens if you delete all the tracks except the centre.

10. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 1:17 PM (in response to Richard M Knight)Yes, I tried centering the divergence and it didn't change the outcome... the bottom line is why would track 2 be bleeding into track 1 & 3 under any circumstance on the individual audio clip meters... you were right earlier when you said it sounded like the OLD ANALOG days with track crosstalk when the machine was not aligned / calibrated correctly!!! I guess I better check my hard-drive for magnetic oxide dust (and get out my Qtips with rubbing alcohol and clean it)... LOL just an old engineers joke if you've ever had to do that!!! Man this one is a real stumper. BTW... do you happen to know the layout of the 5.1 fader (it doesn't appear to be the standard "film 5.1" - L/C/R/Ls/Rs/LFE)?
-
11. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 1:21 PM (in response to ALLENT)It's L,R,SL,SR,C.LFE. (I started as a sound mixer using 1" 4 track Studers)

12. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 1:32 PM (in response to Richard M Knight)I was in music exclusively for 18 years before film.. so I have a lot of time spent on an OLD 2"24 track studer. Man, I'm glad when I started sound mixing film the world had gone digital!! (but then again here we are troubleshooting a CRAZY audio signal flow problem).

13. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 1:43 PM (in response to ALLENT)OK, so I fixed it!! (said very "tongue-in-cheek").... I just started a whole new session, and re-imported everything (using 6 standard tracks & a stereo master), and panned everything like I wanted it... and all is well now (except for the fact that I lost about 4 hours worth of work setting volume levels on a 104 minute feature film!!!! BTW... the reason I was doing that was the mastering facility got things a bit too compressed, and I had to go back to the original PROTOOLS output STEMS, that were very uncompressed (so I had to adjust the volume in a lot of places to compensate). BTW... any thoughts on being able to save my volume "keyframes" so I could import them into the new session (to save a "do-over").
Thanks for all your help on this... I think we have clearly uncovered another BUG in the PP audio section. I wonder if I can just send ADOBE our discussion thread to report the bug, that way they would know our trouble-shooting path??

14. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
Richard M Knight Mar 9, 2014 1:54 PM (in response to ALLENT)You can't copy audio keyframes, I've been caught out by this. As for bug reports, I'm not sure you could make it repeatable for Adobe to check, I've never had this problem with the 15 or so 5.1 music recitals I have done. ( I also start off with 6 mono tracks)

15. Re: Audio bleed from track 2 over to track 3 - BUG??
ALLENT Mar 9, 2014 2:02 PM (in response to Richard M Knight)yeah... this one may be like when you take your car into the shop because it is rattling louder than your stereo, and as soon as you pull in it is running perfect!! I'll certainly be paying attention everytime I set up a session, to see if it ever happens again. thanks again
