1. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 5:10 AM (in response to MinnesotaDad)Always frustrating to think you are so close, but no buttons...
I like the snipping tool for screenshots.
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Snipping Tool
The buttons are with everything else.
Your folder structure should look like this (in the default location Encore expects):
One button name (in the general folder) is "Grainy Button.psd"
Insert images was a problem for some of us; thought it was fixed. For me, changing the browser to compatibility mode helped. Or use another browser to see if that helps.

Thanks so much for your reply and the style with which you delivered it (i.e. gentle and "non-patronizing")!
I use the snipping tool all the time. I just had never thought of simply "pasting" it right along with my text. Guess I was looking for something more complex. So thanks for that tip!
Below you'll see a snip of how my current folder structure appears. It's identical to yours, except there are no button files in the General Folder. Since you were kind enough to include a file name, I did a search on that specific one and it's nowhere to be found on my hard drive. Hmmm....
I've seen others remark on how... "challenging".... Adobe's instructions can be sometime. I'll admit to having the same feeling when I was trying to download and install all the content files and the 7-zip stuff. Is the answer somehow that I screwed up that? Note the 7-zip folder right above the Adobe folder. Here's a screen shot of that expanded folder contents:
Does that look like you think it should? Have I not installed or extracted something correctly?
I'm running a 64 bit operating system. So does the Program Files (X86) folder have any significance or hold any clues? Theres 7-zip folders residing there as well....
Finally, the only other thing I can think of to give you as much info as you might need is to include a screenshot of where the "Functional Content" stuff got saved. Adobe's instructions about this (if I recall correctly) were that it did NOT have to be installed anywhere specific, but you then had to go into Encore (& Premiere) and through preferences point to this stuff, which I believe I did. But I don't see any button type files in these anyway.
So now that I've gone wild with my new-found ability to insert screenshots, any other thoughts or advice?
Thanks!

3. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
MinnesotaDad Mar 9, 2014 8:02 AM (in response to MinnesotaDad)I am looking at my own reply I just posted and I can't see the screenshots. Either it's taking a helluva long time to load, or I didn't do something right. I DID switch from using Chrome to Firefox for that post because Chrome wouldn't let me paste the image in the post itself, but Firefox did.
If you can't see the screenshots either, then I guess I still need some likely specific instructions on just exactly what to do.

Thanks again for the simple but valuable tip.
I'm just going to repeat the relevant sections from my previous post with the screenshots this time:

6. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 2:08 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)Only a moment right now.
I suspect you don't have the download with the buttonsw.
Use this link:
http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/download-library-content.html
It is not an installer, and does not include the 7z step anymore.
Have you downloaded that one?
If this does not look right, wait till later tonight and I'll give more info.

7. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
MinnesotaDad Mar 9, 2014 3:28 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I already have done that. Perhaps I didn't "do" it correctly, but I think I've tried it more once.
This is so frustrating.
I don't know if this is possible... or legal... but is there any chance you can just email me the actual button files and I can then just stick them in the library?
It would be so much easier and faster.

8. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 4:13 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)Ha, ha! figuring out which they are, collecting and zipping, then unzipping and getting into the directories...
What is the name of the file(s) you downloaded?
Two options are Premeire Pro Content or EncoreContentEnglish.

9. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
MinnesotaDad Mar 9, 2014 5:31 PM (in response to Stan Jones)As to figuring out which ones they are, don't they "button" in their filename (much like the menus have menu in their filename)?
Couldn't you just compare the screenshot below with your folder and send me the "difference?"
Hell, at this point, I'd be content with just a few button files - OR EVEN ONE!
I'm just trying to finish my project and I can't build menus without a button file.
I'm going to try and "fill" the buttons with motion video on my menus, so if you just want to pick out a standard rectangular (ideally 16:9) button that glows around the edges or something when the button is "active," that'd be fine with me!!!!
I'm downloading (again) the "entire library content" that comes in a zip file when you click on "English."
That in turn shows me the window below, and when I download it, it's a 2.7 gb file.
Since it's taking a while, I thought I'd send this reply in the meantime.

11. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 5:44 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)It may work, so let's see, but I would not choose the "open" option; I would save it, and open it after the dowload is complete.

12. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 5:47 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)The only version of the EncoreContent I see has a zero file size, and I suspect is the file you are downloading. The only file I see of your various options, is the one that installs only the small group of menus you have.
The download you are now doing has the buttons.
Rename your current library that you alredy have installed (to Library Lousy Nobutton Whatever). Then EXTRACT the files from your download. It is not an installer, so Firefox opening it may or may not extract them. The copy the Library folder out of that group to the path we looked at earlier (Encore/Library). Renaming your current one makes that easy.
Enjoy your buttons! Or come back for more help!

Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 5:49 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)I'm just trying to finish my project and I can't build menus without a button file.
Just so we're clear, all those menus you already have are full of buttons. Just edit in photoshop and copy/drag those button groups to other menus.

14. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
MinnesotaDad Mar 9, 2014 5:56 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Well, I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing out something inherentlly basic to you but not so obvious to me.
I don't have Photoshop.
I have Paint.net, and I've already taught myself this past week how to separate layers out of a Photoshop file so I can work on them in Paint.net, but are the attributes of those buttons even going to recognized in Paint.net and continue to be "active?"
I may have to just download the trial of Photoshop, but now I don't have the first clue how to work in Photoshop.
Given all the time you're graciously spending on this forum thread already, any chance I could private message you my actual menu templates and you could just quickly "install" some buttons on those and send them back? Seems like the fastest short-term solution given that we've been working on this all day.
Just a thought.

MinnesotaDad Mar 9, 2014 6:25 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)Disregard previous request! I just figured out how I can do it myself. So I think I have the button problem solved!!!!!!
Ironically, with apologies to the Wizard of Oz, "it was there all along." Ugh. To think of the hours spent on this today. Appreciate your help Stan!!!

16. Re: I've tried, but I can't get any buttons to load in Encore Library (I do have menus!)
Stan Jones Mar 9, 2014 6:33 PM (in response to MinnesotaDad)You're welcome!
A menu needs to be a psd file where the layers retain their "names" with the official prefixes (=1) etc. It does not have to be photoshop.
