I've got the same issue exactly as you described: spaces cannot be added to text in the Title tool of PPro CC. I've tried modifying existing titles, using different fonts, creating new titles and new text, -- same results: Space bar will not add spaces to text. As a quick workaround, I have been able to copy existing spaces and then paste them where needed.
What I have discovered is that if I create an entirely new project and then create a new title, everything works properly. So, somewhere along the way, something within my project has gone awry.
Were you able to get this working within the project/projects you were experiencing this issue?
If you import the entire project into a new project, does that help?
Or, what happens if you reset your workspace?
And if worse comes to worse, can you type Alt-0032 (hold down the Alt key and use the numeric keypad to type 0032)?
Check Keyboard Preferences > Titler.
Just in case something has gone screwy there.
1) Importing the entire project into a new project DOES work -- thanks. At this point, that will be my "fix" whenever this happens again.
2) Resetting workspace -- Doesn't help.
So, somehow the project is getting corrupted. Hmm. Oh well, at least there is a workaround. Glad I could help.
Interesting thought -- checked out Keyboard Shortcuts for Titles and nothing messed up there (tried different defaults, also, with no change).
Nothing in Preferences > Titler either.
Yes, I had this fault intermittently since the start of CC.
We were able to figure it out. Turned out it was just a corrupt sequence the editor was using on a template project. Once he created a new sequence and pasted his elements into it, the space bar began to work in the titler. I submited the project with testing instructions and Adobe was able to reproduce it. The editor has now deleted the corrupt sequence and moved on with new project and sequence settings. It was a strange bug, but hopefully anyone coming across this thread will see to just make a new sequence and paste their media into it.
