Replacing the preferences and savedData did not innitially work, but it did lead to a solution. I realized that I ported over my old mac to this new one from a backup, and there old versions of preferences from ID (even tho I had uninstalled the program). I cleaned out my preference and cache folders of old and new ID support files. ID then opened with no problem. Hopefully this will help anyone else who has this issue.

If I were you, I’d uninstall, run the cleaner script and reinstall it the right way.
Adobe apps do not migrate well and any future issues you have will likely be related to this.
