    Complete reinstall help required

    jackharrybill
Hi and I hope that someone can help with this, I expect it is covered somewhere else in here but I have looked and searched but not found it.

My problem is very simple I think. I keep getting lots of JavaScript errors when working with DW8 (installed as part of Studio 8). I think this is down to a conflict of installed extensions. I tried disabling and removing all extensions to cure it but that didn't work.

So I then tried a full reinstall but when reinstalled DW found and started using some extensions again without my asking it to.

I assume that DW /Studio 8 has this info stored somewhere that isn't removed completely when DW is uninstalled.

So what I want to do is eradicate anything on my hard drive that might be causing the problem so that I can get a clean reinstall from the discs and then add 8.02 on top and hoepfully everything should be fine again.

If anyone can help by telling me what I need to remove it would be much appreciated.

      All the best
      John

You can try this simple fix -

          Quit DW.

          Find this file -

          C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
          8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat

(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > Tools >
          Folder Options to unhide them)

          and delete it.

          Restart DW. Does this work?

OK I removed that file and it certainly made things better but there are still some errors. I am now thinking that if I completely remove all of Studio 8, delete this whole folder:

            C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\

and then reinstall I should get a clean restart?

All the best and thanks for the help

That would probably do it, but you might get off easier by deleting (or
renaming this folder. Be sure you quit Dreamweaver before doing it.

              C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
              Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\
