1. Re: Create PDF button gone from Excel worksheet
CtDave Mar 14, 2014 7:35 PM (in response to quality11)Acrobat 9 came with CS4.
The Acrobat 9 PDFMaker (the Office add-on) is not compatible with Office 2013 applications.
Office 2013 applications require the PDFMaker provided by install of Acrobat XI.Acrobat 9's PDFMaker supports the following Office releases:
--| Office XP
--| Office 2003
--| Office 2007
See:
http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html
You say your using a new computer.
That suggest that you work in a current OS.
If that OS is Windows 8 / 8.1 with Office 2013 you are going to have to purchase / install Acrobat XI.Because the Acrobat 9 product came with CS4 you may not be able to purchase the "9 to XI' upgrade. -- I'm not sure about it. So, you'll have to speak with Adobe customer service / licensing.
Be well... -

quality11 Mar 15, 2014 3:21 AM (in response to CtDave)Thanks so much, CtDave. Ugh, I definitely don't want to buy the whole CS4 package b/c I don't need it. It looks like I can upgrade from 9 (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/buying-guide-upgrade-pricing.html) for $199 but is that per year? All I use is the PDF maker and insert pages with that program. The cost doesn't make sense for what I use it for. Any other suggestions? Really appreciate your help and feedback.
No, not a new computer. "Restored back to factory". It's Windows 7.
Thanks so much.

try67 Mar 15, 2014 3:24 AM (in response to quality11)No, that cost is not per year. It's the cost of the stand-alone upgrade,
which it not subscription-based and can be used ad infinitum (in principle).

4. Re: Create PDF button gone from Excel worksheet
quality11 Mar 15, 2014 3:27 AM (in response to try67)Thanks. Thought so. Still a bit for me right now especially b/c I use 1% or less of the program. I know this is an Adobe forum so not sure if it's cool but any suggestions for what I can use instead of Acrobat for free or cheap? Just need PDF maker and Insert/Delete pages. I know there are free PDF makers out there. Actually, think Reader offers PDF maker/converter now.

5. Re: Create PDF button gone from Excel worksheet
try67 Mar 15, 2014 3:31 AM (in response to quality11)Adobe offers a subscription-based model called PDF Pack that can be used to
convert to/from PDF.
You can try it out and see if it works out for you...
You can use Google to find non-Adobe alternatives.

Test Screen Name Mar 15, 2014 3:42 AM (in response to quality11)Caution! Do not buy the Acrobat XI upgrade! This is only valid if you owned a standalone copy of Acrobat 9 or X. It is not for, and will not work with, the copies of Acrobat bundled with CS.
PDF Pack can create PDF files, but Insert/Delete pages needs Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro.

quality11 Mar 15, 2014 4:01 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)I don't understand....so to get Acrobat I have to buy the whole CS4? I'm confused. I can't get just Acrobat?

9. Re: Create PDF button gone from Excel worksheet
try67 Mar 15, 2014 4:03 AM (in response to quality11)You can't upgrade a single product if it was purchased as a part of a
suite. Only the entire suite as a whole.

10. Re: Create PDF button gone from Excel worksheet
Test Screen Name Mar 15, 2014 4:10 AM (in response to quality11)No, let's try this again.
I understand you have CS4 already? But,
- CS4 includes Acrobat 9
- Acrobat 9 doesn't work with Office 2013
- Acrobat XI (11) with the latest updates is needed for Office 2013.
Clearly, buying CS4 would be no good to you, and in any case you already own it, and if you didn't, you can't buy CS4 any more, it is discontinued.
You would need to end up with Acrobat XI (11). But you cannot buy a reduced price upgrade to get it.

quality11 Mar 15, 2014 4:12 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)So I need to buy the regular Acrobat 11 and can't get the upgrade. Is that what you're saying? If so, can you send link to purchase so I can see?
I know I can't get CS4 anymore. I meant Web Suite.

12. Re: Create PDF button gone from Excel worksheet
Bill@VT Mar 15, 2014 3:40 PM (in response to quality11)The store is at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/buying-guide-upgrade-pricing.html. If you click the upgrade option, you will see the option to upgrade to AA XI from the AA X Suite (whatever that is, I assume CS) or from individual products. In your case it is not an individual product, but a suite. If you have questions or want to see if you can get a deal, you will have to call the Adobe sales folks. We can only repeat what we see and have heard from others (except for those folks who have the suite).
You can still print to the Adobe PDF printer from Excel 2013, if you can get AA9 to work on Win8 (an outside chance, but may require some workarounds). You would just not get links or bookmarks. You might see if there is a MS plugin for creating PDFs from Excel. If there is, you might be able to create the PDFs that way and edit in Acrobat 9.
