While searching the web for help with a PHP solution on creating a file upload class, I came across a site that looks like it is a genuine David Powers item.

Its URL is [removed by moderator]

It deposits a virus on your machione which infects your machine, and even though it is detected by Norton, your Firefox browser will need removong and re-einstalling before it will function properly.

Best not to use it at all.

Whoa, what a ripper, what a Bobby Dazzler and all of the other phrases that I can think of.

Fortunately the link has nought to do with our David Powers.

Please, anyone reading this that has poor or no GOOD virus protection software installed, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK ON THE SITE mentioned above.

I later realized that it was not our David – but they are using his name and I thought that he should know about it.

Thanks for pointing this out, Howard. The legitimate version of the course is on lynda.com at http://www.lynda.com/PHP-tutorials/Uploading-Files-Securely-PHP/158374-2.html.

I have alerted lynda.com to the existence of the virus-infected pirate version. Hopefully they can do something about it, but dealing with internet piracy is rather like a dog chasing its own tail.
