I have always used simple text/html editors to make webpages and basically my webpages still look similar to the way I started in the 90s, sigh...
I am going to make the step forward to catch up with todays technology and trade in my old text/html editor for Dreamweaver. Im nerveous about the learning curve but with so many tutorials here I think I can do it!
Can I take my current collection of webpage files that i created in BBedit and use them in DW? Wondering if DW will read the shody code I have and transform them into correct code?
Or if I should just start over basically from scratch redesigning all my websites? I only have a handful of sites.
Depending on what's wrong with your code, Dreamweaver might be able to do some cleaning up for you. Take a look at this help page on using the Clean Up HTML command. But don't expect Dreamweaver to be a magic wand. It might be better to start over again.
This forum is dedicated to answering questions about the Get Started video tutorial, and tends not to get much traffic. For general help with Dreamweaver, use the main Dreamweaver support forum, which is very active and often results in getting an answer within a few minutes. The best way to ask for help with design issues is to include a link to the problem page when posting in the forum. Looking at the code on a live website makes it a lot easier for others to troubleshoot issues.
Thanks for the reply David! I think its probably just going to be best to start from scratch the right way too.
