I assume that not too many people know the answer to this question, as I have asked this question on another forum, but have not gotten an answer. I would like to set up my system with Raid 30. I have a PC/Win7-64 with an Areca 1882ix-12-4GB with 8 each 1TB HDD's.
I assume I first have to create 2 Raid 3 arrays with 4 disks each, then create the volumes, then I am not sure what's next. Any ideas?
Simple. Press F6 during the boot process to enter the Areca setup. Create two raid 3 arrays and then create a multi level raid30, working down the list of menu options. Just read the manual, that can be found here: http://www.areca.com.tw/support/main.htm
Start reading BIOS configuration in chapter 3 on page 42 of the PDF file, ARC1882_series_manual.pdf
Once you have created the volume, do not forget to FORMAT the volume in Disk Manager, since it starts out as 'unallocated'.
