Virtual copies and using Description, or title etc to print

Hi!

Never really use the text features in LR.

I've built a strip sheet to print. 4 strips with 4 versions (VIRTUAL COPIES) of the same image with different exposures.

I remember in the Print Module, you can add text. in this case I'd like to add the exposure (manually is fine) Example: NORMAL +1/3 +2/3 +1

So, this is a virtual copy problem.

It wont allow me to add the text to DESCRIPTION, Also, Under: Title, I can add say NORMAL, but that is the same for each image. Can't be individually labeled?

Is there anyway to label, title, description, etc, a series of the same Virtual Copies. Again, it would be great to print the actual exposure, but I'd be happy manually labeling the VC.

You can use the Copy Name filed and place what you want in there. This can be selected to print in the Photo Info in the Print Module

Doesn't quite work right. In library, I can access COPY NAME, TITLE, DESCRIPTION field. I enter example "+ 1/3" I tried hitting enter, or tab, or clicking outside the field, then it just goes blank.

I wonder if it matters the hierachy of my virtual copies?

I made a VC from the original in a collection. Then 3 more from that VC, to vary the exposure.

Win7 x64 LR 5.3. Do you type in the field, then hit enter or tab? When I hit enter, the field becomes blank. Strange.

If I just click away, go to another image, then back the field is either empty or say "COPY2" etc.

It just works as expected for me, using Enter.
Now as others are not seeing this I suspect there may be something we need to trace in your setup/system. Do you have Autowrite to XMP turned on?
I may struggle here as I am a Mac user and hence not up on Windows. I'm sure others will chip in.
Can you try creating a new catalog and importing a copy of the same file into it and see if that works please.

I may have Autowrite to XMP turned. Will do some checking in the morning/. I thought maybe since 3 of the VC are childeren of another VC. They shared the metadata. ?

Okay

In LIBRARY MODULE - Right Panel - METADATA

If I type in the TITLE or DESCRIPTION or COPY NAME, if I then hit enter, tab or return, the cell goes empty.

This is not Virtual Copy related. Even a sing RAW selected, behaves the same.

I can't find the autowrite to XML setting in the Prefs? Not sure where it is.

I have autowrite off so was just looking for things to try. Auotwrite should not make any difference as far as I can see as VC's only exist in the catalog but worth a look.
Also have you optimised the catalg recently. Do test with a fresh catalog though...

Autowrite is in catalog settings. have you tried another catalog and optimised the current one??
