I'm afraid I have no idea what you're referring to. Can you be a more
specific about what you're trying to do? Flash has never been a part of DPS.
Sure no problem.
We're creating a project which will be on display in our office on a touchscreen TV.
In InDesign you have the option to export your interactive document in different formats. Flash is one of the options. I can preview my document and it's interactivity just fine in InDesign Content Viewer Preview but when I export to Flash it ceases to work. It used to work just fine as I've run many tests. I updated the software today and it doesn't work anymore.
Content Viewer is for DPS only. DPS and flash are not the same thing and not
all features are supported on one of the other.
You are confusing two different things: DPS is not Flash, Flash is not DPS.
I guess you have added specific DOS interactivity that you added with the Folio Overlay options (like scrolling content in frame or slideshows). The Folio Overlay options are DPS specific and do NOT work in Flash.
For Flash interactivity use Multi Object States, Buttons and Animations NOT Folio Overlays.
The Content Viewer is for DPS, the FSW preview panel is for Flash, don't confuse these completely different workflows...
I'm not confusing the two at all. I'm simply saying that when I export my INDD DPS document to Flash, it doesn't work. And it used to as I've run several tests before but since the update it's not working.
Where are you getting this from?:
"You are confusing two different things: DPS is not Flash, Flash is not DPS."
Go back and read the question. But thanks anyway I think.
As for your suggestion:
"For Flash interactivity use Multi Object States, Buttons and Animations NOT Folio Overlays."
This is exactly how I've set up the project.
What are you trying to say here:
"The Content Viewer is for DPS, the FSW preview panel is for Flash, don't confuse these completely different workflows..."
Was this comment meant to be helpful?
I'm not sure you're understanding my problem.
INDD DPS export to FLASH (SWF) doesn't work. It did before and it doesn't anymore. I'm only looking for it to work in Flash Player... Not edit the interactivity in the full Flash Application.
But... there IS NO 'export from DPS to Flash'! Again, they are different things! You can not 'export DPS' to Flash or Flash to DPS.
So I, like Bob, have no idea what you mean by 'DPS export to Flash'...
Then why did you bring up DPS? Look at your subject line.
Now back up and tell us what doesn't work and how you're testing it.
There is. InDesign > File > Export > Flash Player (SWF)
Okay. So in InDesign (using the DPS tools) I've created my interactive document. Basically just buttons that activate object states. When I export this InDesign document to SWF it doesn't work. Like I said, I worked before.
Now I've only been able to test in Content Viewer via InDesign (works perfectly)
Before I tested it by exporting the doc to SWF and ran it on the computer which uses the touch-screen TV as a monitor (worked perfectly)
I can't get it to export to SWF properly at all anymore.
@griminus – you said "…since the update it's not working". What update do you refer to?
In what exact version of InDesign are you working? InDesign CC v9.2.0, InDesign CC v9.1.0, CS6 ?
Since the DPS functionality is fully integrated with CS6 or CC, there is no explicit InDesign DPS version vs. InDesign-None-DPS version. Just InDesign. Some functionality like MSOs (MultiStateObjects) are for both, Flash SWF Export and Folio creation. Both ways of publishing share some of the features. But by no means all.
Ok. Back to your problem: after updating (whatever part of InDesign) you cannot export to SWF anymore? What will happen instead? An error message?
If you want to preview a SWF-Export you have to use the SWF-Preview in InDesign. It's under Windows / Interactive / SWF-Preview (partly translated from my German InDesign CS6, so the exact terms could be slightly different).
The Preview functionality at the bottom of the Folio Builder Panel is a totally different thing.
It's not the right preview function for SWF.
Againwhat does this have to do with DPS?
And againwhat exactly are trying to do and what does and doesn't work.
@Bob – in the meantime the OP, griminus, opened another thread about the same topic.
I think he is confusing folio building with SWF export. Just a problem of terminology. Plus his issue, as far as I now can understand it after reading his comment in the other thread:
SWF export does not work any more after updating the latest version of DPS (v30).
So far my own interpretation of his issue…
I gave up on this guy, we are trying to help hum understand the difference between DPS and interactivity for Folio's and Overlays (as it works fine in Adobe content viewer) and Flash. He then states that WE do not understand... He wants to 'export DPS to Flash' whatever that may mean? He can export a DOCUMENT to Flash, if that what he means maybe bur there Overkays won't work. But he simply refusesvti believe us and starts the same question in a new topic. This guy has some strange attitude...
And I got sucked in on another thread before I saw this one!
Wow, sorry for the typos but I can not edit placed messages on my iOS device Flash! ;-)
@Frans – what would happen?
Would the "F" in "Flash" automatically changed to "C" on iOS?
