Are you able to give us more information or screengrabs as to what is going on? For example, does InDesign crash; or does a dialog box appear? Is the file one page long or lots and lots of pages? If the file is more than one page long, what happens when one page only is exported? If that page exports, how many other pages export before trouble is experienced?
When the file is opened, are there any missing font or image warnings? When the export is about to begin, are there any warnings generated?
Please bear in mind that this forum is user-to-user, so neither myself nor Peter Spier (or most other people on this forum for that matter) are employees of Adobe, so we don't have "under-the-hood" technical information; and nor are we being paid by Adobe for our opinions.
Thanks so much for your help. In the end, I called customer support. I had to get this booklet to my printer asap. We ended up doing a workaround that involved creating a ps file in InDesign and then opening it as a pdf in Acrobat. I'm not completely out of the woods though I'm not completely sure. It loaded backwards in Acrobat so I have to instruct my printer on the page layout.
For future reference, I was able to create a one page document in InDesign and export that as a pdf. But my 28 page booklet - no way. I would get a dialog box that said something along the lines of: Error. Export file failed. That's it. No explaination. There are 0 errors on my document. No missing fonts. Nada. Still not making any sense to me.
But, thanks again!!
Postscript to PDF workflow is not good, we suggest to export the file in PDF from InDesign.
As per the description from your issue, hard to say without the document what is the issue, the link posted by Peter is something you could try.
With breaking the document into smaller segments and then exporting it into PDF, can help you diagnose the faulty component which you can work on to fix the problem.
Well, with the help of this forum, I finally figured out the problem. I tried exporting page by page until the offending page was found. Apparently Indd did not like the image on that page. It was an imported pdf image but it must've been corrupt in some way. I fixed that page and the entire document was able to export.
Thank you soooooooo much!!
I am having the same problem. How do you export only one page?
Specify the page(s) you want to include in the export in the Range filed of the dialog.
