Selecting Preferences > Performance Delay

This is something I have for a long time thought unique to my system, so I lived with it. When I select Preferences and then on the Performance tab, there is a long delay. I have not measured it, but it has to be 30 seconds to a minute. If I close Preferences and then go back to Preferences > Performance, it opens straight away.

I have now just reinstalled Windows 7, so have a fresh clean installation of my CC apps, but I still get that delay. It's not life and death, but I am wondering if this happens with everyone. It's the sort of behaviour I'd have expected to see mentioned on this forum before, but I don't remember doing so. But then again, a completely clean reinstall of everything suggests it is not a system error.

Windows 7 Pro

Full CC subscription with everything but the web related apps installed

3930k @ 6 x 3.9Mhz

GTX570

32Gb RAM

OS and all apps installed on 2 x Samsung 256Gb PRO in raid0

Do you have any network or external drives attached? My guess is that Photoshop is trying to read available hardware in preparation for displaying the Performance Preferences. Slow drives could cause a delay (as they spin up in order to report free space available).

Oh dear. That might be exactly what is happening. This is my drive set up.
I have not set up the network yet, but will be adding another computer and two shared printers when I get round to it. System, Projects, and Exports are all raid0 arrays.

Reading your post again Brett, the external drives, and two of theinternals, are all allowed to go into sleep mode, so there would be a delay in waking them.
