If you want to produce interactive media to be deployed on a CD or DVD
rom then you probably want Director. Most of the applications in the CD3
package can be used to create the media that you will use in Director,
but they won't make the program.

Who's in charge of Director at Adobe anyway? It seems like there's nobody
there speaking up for it within the company. If it had a decent product
manager, they wouldn't have sales people saying things like that. Something
is really wrong here.

Unfortunately, when Tom Higgins (previous Director Product Manager) left Adobe,
he left a big hole. Tom had been with Macromedia for a number of years, knew
Director inside out, and was very in touch with the community. There has been a
change of guard since Adobe took over Macromedia, and since Tom left. From what
I have seen, the new team are getting a feel for the product, the community and
Now, I would like a stronger voice from within Adobe to be seen here and in the
other forums and lists, and hope that will happen in the future. For now, while
the Adobe staff are not visble here, I can tell you the team does exist and is
working hard for our product.
