First, all the system info:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
Intel HD Graphics 3000 Display Adapter
I’m using Premiere Pro CS6 Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC: 264587)) “Mighty Kilt”
Other Adobe applications installed: AIR, Creative Cloud, Download Assistant, Encore CS6 Library, Flash Player 12 ActiveX, Flash Player 12 Plugin, Help Manager, Premiere Pro CS6, Premiere Pro CS6 Functional Content, Reader XI
I’ve run check for updates on both Premiere Pro and Media Encoder and everything is up to date
Here's the situation:
I recorded video at a drumline competition yesterday. 20 schools. Camera was on a tripod the whole time. All I did was press the button to start and stop recording.
Downloaded the MTS files onto my desktop computer.
All files play just fine with sound throughout the entire duration of all clips.
Started a new project in Premiere Pro CS6.
Imported the 20 files en masse into the Project Window at once.
Here's the strange thing:
When I open or "play" them in the Source window, some files are fine.
But some have no sound until a certain point in the clip.
What I have NOT done is uninstall Premiere Pro and reinstalled it. (Please don't tell me I need to do that unless you're absolutely convinced that could fix it.)
But I have twice now started brand new projects without any connection to the previous project to try and erase any semblance of connection to the problem.
And the sound cuts in on the exact same FRAME of the clips as it did in the other projects!!!!!
And it's at different points in the clips!
One clip it's at 5 minutes, 13 seconds and 43 frames.
For another clip, it's at 4 minutes, 8 seconds, and 13 frames.
You get the idea.
And just to reconfirm - I am doing NOTHING different with any settings. All I'm doing is simply taking the clip (which again, plays just fine in Windows Media Player with sound from the first instant of the clip) and moving it up into the source window. For 20 clips done exactly the same way, 12 are just fine and 8 have this "missing sound" for some portion of the beginning of the clip.
Oh great wise ones out there - what the sam hill is going on????
