I like the idea if I understand it but I think the image would help me understand.

Brian-BCGurus.com Mar 24, 2014 12:47 PM (in response to Liam Dilley)I think this is a really good idea Liam.
In our conventions doc that I've shared with the developers who are creating apps so far it says to have an Instructions Tab. I like what you're showing here better and can update the doc with something like this as a preferred method but I don't think we necessarily should enforce this as a standard. As long as an app provides the "Help" information and a method available to remove the app if desired I don't think we should get too wrapped around how you do so.
Attention to detail like this is what gives developers the opportunity to stand out amungst their competition. Sometime in the near future we'll start seeing multiple apps that solve the same or similar problems. It's the nature of a marketplace. So I don't think there's a need to say everyone has to do it this way even though I think this is a very good way. Just like you brought up a case (stepping through the process), another developer may have a reason this isn't best for their app.
I'm definately interested in other developer's opinions on app UI standards in general and what should/shouldn't be requirements. On thing that's definately a requirement is that apps need to look like they are at home in the BC admin UI to be sold in the app store.

Liam Dilley Mar 24, 2014 2:24 PM (in response to Brian-BCGurus.com)Most of our UI efforts are very tight and getting tighter with our apps, we are making a bit point in that area with our efforts.
This though with the complexity of some of our apps I want to either 1. remove the tabs if not needed or 2. remove the loss in the crowed of the instructions tab, if people could do this element as a standard it would be better overall.
I still also think Apps should be logged and viewed from site settings and deleted there not from the app itself.
