Without buying software:
Export doc to pdf open acrobat and export as a word doc.
Its not pretty, (anything word never is!) but its useable

Just to throw out the obvious (which isn't obvious to everyone, so I thought I'd mention it), but this isn't a "round-trip to Word to edit an InDesign file" thing. It's a "turn an InDesign file into a Word file" thing. Once it's a Word file, any edits you make won't reflect in the InDesign file. Although that would be handy, the way to edit text in a more word-processor-friendly environment without having to edit the actual InDesign file is to use InCopy.
