I am having some problems with the data merge utility in InDesign and the fields displaying in the data merge panel. The InDesign file is linked to a CSV file and when I check the links panel, it shows the correct CSV file listed. When I go to the data merge panel however there is no option to select certain fields that we need to add to the InDesign file, it is simply blank. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Thanks!
How did you import the merge file? If done through the data merge panel (like you need to) and the fields do not display, then perhaps the file itself is malformed.
Does your merge file have column headings? How did you export the file and from what application?
It does have column headings and it was saved from an excel file, it works for another individual on my team, but not my particular InDesign.
