If it is the separate layers, you can use Generator, as you mentioned above, by renaming the layers with the proper tags and sizes. If it is the entire file, you can use image processor and set the size limitataion in the dialog box.

But the only option for me was process open images. But I really only want the working document. I don't need to export every open doc, and it would be too much work to close the other images, then reopen them after exporting the jpg?

I found this link helpful using GENERATOR:IMAGE ASSETS. seems to be the easiest way to generate the jpgs I needed without the wait caused by Save for Web.
