Handling Windows InDesign file in Mac

    Gejaraja Level 1

      Hello All,

We have handled the InDesign files in Windows OS, but one of our client need to handle the same files in Mac, could anyone suggest whether the InDesign files created in Windows can be handled in Mac without any issues? We know font will be one of the case, but not sure on other aspects, please suggest.

      Thanks in advance,

If you use OTF fonts, they will not cause any problem. But the Mac can also work with Windows fonts but I would not recommend it.

When you name files use only A-Z, a-z, =-9, _ (underscore) and - (dash). Not only for compatibility between platforms, it helps a lot when exporting to HTML or EPUB.

Package the files before exchange. Because files on a server might be a problem.

Don't use 3rd party plugins, because another person might not have bought them or they might not exist on the other platform.

Be sure that all work on the very same version. I cannot recommend a workflow where IDML has to be involved due to compatibility.

For Mac Users: Don't use / in your file name, and don't forget to use the correct extension for all files.
