No, when you buy the Creative Cloud subscription, the software is licensed based on the email address you used as your Adobe ID when purchasing the software.

On the trial screen do you see any option to license this software, if yes click on it and sign in with your Adobe ID to activate.
Additionally if you do not have any previous versions Adobe installed then follow the below mentioned steps:
Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/SLCache and rename it.
Launch AE and sign in with your Adobe Id to activate.
There is an option to license the software. I click this and sign in but it asks me for a serial number which I don't have as I have purchased a 'month-to-month' plan.
I have also had a technician walk me through deleting the opm.db file in my Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder and that didn't help. I don't have any file named 'SLCache'.
Still nothing seems to be working.
A technician has now managed to resolve the problem for me. Thanks to all who tried to help!
